India, while noting that the boundary there has already been demarcated, has told China not to transgress into the ‘finger’ area in north Sikkim.
At the same time, India has conveyed its readiness to discuss the issue to avoid conflagration and the two sides are expected to hold talks in the near future, sources said in New Delhi on Sunday.
The Chinese side recently asked India to remove a mound of stones in the “tiny” ‘finger’ area in north Sikkim, prompting convening of the flag meeting between the two armies, the sources said.
The sources pointed out that it was not unusual for the army patrols of either country to venture into areas which are disputed along the Line of Actual Control (LOAC).
But the Sikkim boundary has been demarcated and recognised by the two countries long ago in 1959.
New Delhi, however, does not see it has any cause for worry, saying that such “problems” will keep happening and the two countries will discuss to resolve these.
Referring to the LOAC as “one of the most peaceful but unsettled border”, the sources said dispute over it will not be resolved “overnight” but it will take time to resolve.
